Mostyn Hall, Caerwys and Dyserth, Flintshire
Saturday May 27th Full day Excursion to Mostyn Hall, Caerwys and Dyserth, Flintshire
If sufficient people book before May 12th we will try to get a small coach for this trip.
Assemble at the Park and Ride Car Park off the A55/A5025 Menai Bridge junction 8 (LL61 5YR) at 9.30am for the bus or to share cars to minimise parking problems.
Please assemble at Maen Achwyfan Cross NGR SJ 130788 (CH8 9DD Red dot on the map) to arrive together at 11.00 at Mostyn Hall (SJ 148807 - CH8 9HN) where we will be shown the hall and its archives by Dr Shaun Evans (who lectured on the family last autumn). Cross the A55 onto B5122 for lunch at the Piccadilly Inn at Caerwys (site of the Elizabethan eisteddfodau)(CH7 5AW Green dot on the map). We will look at the mediaeval town, then return to Whitford (SJ 146781 - CH8 9AN) to see the Mostyn monuments and Thomas Pennant’s and Moses Girffiths’ graves.
Finally we will travel via Maen Achwyfan again to join the A5151 and visit Dyserth Church (SJ056 794 - LL18 6ET) which has another 10th century cross and a fine 16th century Jesse Window.
